Amid the cypress groves and rolling green hills of Bodega Bay is the Children’s Bell Tower. This structure was built in memory of the 1994 shooting in Italy of 7-year-old Nicholas Green of Bodega Bay. (707) 875-3483

After his death, people came from all around the country to help commemorate Green’s life. Over 130 bells of varying sizes were donated to the effort. School bells, church bells, ships’ bells, mining bells and even cowbells hang on the 18-foot tall memorial. Pope John Paul II blessed the main bell. Many families visit each year to give thanks for their children or to find solace for a loss.

The Children’s Bell Tower is located on land adjacent to the Community Center on the ocean side of Hwy 1, about one and one-half miles north of the Bodega Bay Visitors Center. The Tower Is also accessible from the Bodega Bay RV Park. For more information, call the Bodega Bay Chamber of Commerce at (707) 875-3866.
