The Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park offers a unique look into the life of ranch owners in California when it was still part of Mexico. In its hey day, the adobe at the park was the largest private ranch in California.
To this day it contains authentic furniture from that period 150 years ago when the ranch operated a tallow business and was used to raise cattle and sheep. An informative guided tour takes you behind the scenes of a working mid-19th century California estate and teaches the inner workings of this unique time and place. After finishing the tour, find one of the delightfully shaded picnic areas and enjoy a relaxing lunch. The Petaluma Adobe State Historic Park is located on the edge of Petaluma, off Highway 116. They are open Tuesdays through Sundays 10am to 5pm.
