Now celebrating its 26th year, the Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Carving Championships continue to thrill spectators in downtown Reedsport each Father’s Day weekend. Held outside the Umpqua Discovery Center, this beloved annual event draws world-class wood carvers from across the globe to transform massive ten-foot logs into breathtaking sculptures—all using only chainsaws.
Over several days, artists shape raw timber into intricate figures like eagles, bears, dragons, totem poles, and mythic scenes. The intense and entertaining Quick Carve competition remains a fan favorite, with carvers racing against the clock to finish their pieces in just 90 minutes. Completed sculptures are auctioned off, giving spectators a chance to take home a unique piece of chainsaw art.
For those who can’t attend the championship, Ellie’s Chainsaw Carving Gallery in Reedsport offers a year-round glimpse into this vibrant art form. Located on Highway 101, the gallery often features live carving demonstrations and an outdoor sculpture garden showcasing finished works.
