The Russian River flows into the Pacific Ocean at Jenner. Relax and enjoy the pelicans in flight, the cormorants and sandpipers hunting for their dinner, and hear the harbor seals barking. From 101 in Petaluma take the Washington Street, Central Petaluma Exit. Follow Washington Street west as it becomes the Bodega Highway. Proceed north on Hwy 1 to Jenner-by-the-Sea.
Historically, Jenner was part of the Rancho Muniz. In 1867, John Rule bought 4,000 acres (16 km) of the rancho. When a writer named Charles Jenner moved to the area, Rule encouraged Jenner to build a house in what became known as Jenner Gulch, the site of the town.
Stillwater Cove Regional Park, located 16 miles (26 km) north of Jenner, features picnic facilities, beach access, and a historic one-room schoolhouse.
