Forest Bathing Seminar & Walk

Join us for a 2-hour seminar on Forest Bathing, taking in the atmosphere of the forest for health and wellness purposes. We will explore the science and history behind the practice, deepening our understanding of its potency. After lunch, we will embark on a 2-hour guided Forest Bathing walk through the ancient redwoods, integrating and experiencing all we learned. Come and delight in the therapeutic benefits of our beloved Redwood grove.

Pond Farm Docent-led Tour

Take a docent-led tour of Pond Farm Pottery and learn about the history of this significant cultural site that is on the National Register of Historic Places. Learn about the dreams and challenges of the Herr Family and Marguerite Wildenhain, the first woman master potter to graduate from the Bauhaus. Pond Farm was Marguerite’s home, school and studio for over 30 years and she taught hundreds of her students in the traditions of the Bauhaus. The tour begins at the Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods office/Volunteer Center with a brief presentation, and afterwards participants will carpool up to Pond Farm Pottery.

This orientation covers all of our Sonoma Coast programs, including Whale Watch, Pinniped Monitoring, Seal Watch, Seabird Monitoring, Tidepool, and Steward Ship. Topics will include ocean safety, marine mammal/seabird identification, reporting wildlife disturbances, how monitoring data is being used, dog policy and dealing with the public in a non-confrontational manner, and information about our affiliates at the Marine Mammal Center, California Coastal National Monument, and Seabird Protection Network.

2019 Earth Day Registration

April 20th, 2019, 10:00 AM – 1:00 PM

Join Stewards of the Coast and Redwoods for our annual Earth Day Clean Up of Goat Rock Beach and the Lower Russian River at Jenner. Come join the Steward Ship, our partners and our communities to clean up the river and beach, by sand and kayak. 10 am to 1 pm, looking for lunch and snack donations (please plan to bring lunch, snacks, water and wear appropriate attire and protection for the day’s weather).

We will provide buckets, trash bags, gloves and grabbers as well as a dumpster from Recology for proper disposal of collected materials.

We look forward to seeing you at this annual event of community action!
