Illyria

By Peter Mills, based on Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night

“Illyria, land of fools – where clarity’s a rarity, and madness rules!”  These are the opening lyrics of this modernized and beautiful musical re-telling of Shakespeare’s greatest comedy, Twelfth Night. Capturing the rollicking energy of the play’s hilarious hijinks in the mistaken identities, and its deeply felt emotions as it explores the themes of gender roles in society and unrequited love – our season closing production ultimately provides a happy musical theatre ending for the unsuspecting lovers, the clowns, and even the malcontented Malvolio!

The Sonoma-Marin Fair promotes and showcases agriculture, while displaying the diverse talents, interests and accomplishments of the citizens of California, especially the youth of Sonoma and Marin counties. This is achieved by providing education, entertainment and recreational opportunities for the general public, while continually striving towards enhancing the promotion and preservation of California’s agricultural heritage.

We invite you to join us in the celebration of community, creativity, and good old fashioned fun competing for a blue ribbon. Entering stuff in the Sonoma-Marin Fair is a tradition that keeps our fair feeling authentic and special. Every year we look forward to finding out who makes the best pies, quilts, paintings, and crafts of all kinds. Enter into a competition to win a coveted blue ribbon or visit one of the Sonoma-Marin Fair’s competitive galleries and witness the spirit of competition that is alive and thriving in Petaluma.
