Get a taste of the area’s artistic culture. The Gualala Arts Center is home to some marvelous local and regional works of art. Several galleries showcase metal and wood sculptures, all kinds of paintings and even quilts. There are exciting special events occurring year round, including the well-known and well-attended “Art in the Redwoods Festival” in August. For those unable to attend the festival, these works will remain on display into September 2.
The Gualala Arts Center is a great place to go to pick up a new hobby. You could learn watercolor painting, glass blowing, stone sculpture, jewelry making and even photography. The center is open weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and weekends from 12 noon to 4 p.m. The main building of the Gualala Arts Center is located off Highway 1 just south of Gualala off Old Stage Road. You are going to want to call ahead of time to see what exhibits and classes are available.
