The Grapes
Small Mendocino Growers
Riverbend Cellars produces wine from grapes grown in small vineyards throughout Northern California’s Mendocino region—vineyards owned by old Mendocino families, grapes that truly express the area’s unique climate. Thomas and Michael Meagher are proud to create wines which fulfill the potential of their suppliers' harvests.
Pierre Castillou Vineyards
A vineyard named for a winemaking great-grandfather, sprung from a winemaking people.
Founded in 1982, Pierre Castillou Vineyards is surrounded on three sides by the south bend of the Eel River. This leads to unique growing conditions. Daily temperature and climate swings caused by the river impart character, flavor and depth to the vineyards grapes. At 30 acres, it is the largest vineyard in Humboldt County. Riverbend Cellars uses an eclectic blend of varietals grown in the vineyard for Coquette, the winery's white table wine. In 2006, the winery will commence production of a full range of Estate Bottled wines using the vineyard’s red varietals: Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Nebbiolo and Petite Syrah varietals. |
