The Mad River Fish Hatchery, operated by the California Department of Fish & Game, is located at 1660 Hatchery Road in Blue Lake, just off Hwy 299. The hatchery was built to enhance local salmon, steelhead and trout populations. Salmon and steelhead are released into the Mad River and trout are released into nearby lakes.
